How to Choose the Right Med Spa in Miami: What to Look For Before You Book

The questions every patient should ask, and what the answers should sound like when you find the right place.

Miami has no shortage of med spas. Type “injections near me” into any search engine and you’ll find dozens of options within a few miles. Botox menus, filler specials, Groupon deals; the options are overwhelming and, frankly, not all created equal.
This is your face. It deserves more than the best coupon.
Whether you’re considering your first tox appointment or you’re switching providers after a result that didn’t land right, the way you choose your med spa matters more than most people realize. Here’s what to look for, and why each of these things actually matters.
1. Who is actually injecting you and what are their credentials?
This seems obvious, but it’s the most commonly skipped question. In Florida, injectables must be administered by or under the supervision of a licensed medical professional. This would be an APRN, PA-C, or physician (MD). That means your injector’s clinical background matters. Aesthetic injecting is a skill set built on top of medical training. Anatomy knowledge, understanding of vascular structures, proper aspiration technique, recognizing and managing adverse events are extremely important when it comes to your “aesthetic” while really medical treatments. Something important to note; these aren’t learned on YouTube.
At Selfie Aesthetic, every provider on our team holds a valid medical license and is trained specifically in aesthetic medicine. We believe the person holding the syringe should be someone you’d trust with your health, because that’s exactly what it is.
2. Do they assess before they inject?
A great injector does not pick up the syringe first. They look. They photograph you at rest and at full expression. They video you in motion to see where your muscles are pulling from. They analyze asymmetries, muscle strength, and movement patterns before forming a treatment plan.
If a provider skips this step and goes straight to injection without any analysis or mapping, that’s a red flag. Cookie-cutter tox, same placement, same units, same technique for every patient, is one of the most common reasons people end up with results that look heavy, unnatural, or asymmetrical or in the worst case, botched.
The assessment is where great results are actually made. The injection is just the execution.
3. Do they discuss your goals or just assume them?
Not everyone wants the same result. Some patients want a dramatic softening of every line. Others, especially first-timers, want to look refreshed without looking frozen. These are very different treatment plans, and the only way to know which you need, is to ask.
A provider who takes time to understand what you’re looking for before recommending a plan is a provider who genuinely cares about your outcome. At Selfie Aesthetic, this conversation also shapes which brand we select. Different neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport for example, have different onset times, duration, and diffusion behavior, and matching the right one to your goals is part of our process.
If a provider never asks what you want, you’re getting what they always give, which may be not what’s right for you. Tox can be more customized than most people realize, and even more interchangeable than what most injectors unfortunately think.
4. Do they follow up after your treatment?
Tox takes two to three weeks to fully settle. The appointment isn’t over when you walk out the door, that’s when the real information starts coming in. Does the product look even on both sides? Did a stubborn area need a little more attention? Is there a spot that relaxed too much or not enough?
A med spa that books a follow-up appointment and doesn’t charge you for it is one that’s invested in your result, not just your first payment. This touch-up window is how we fine-tune your formula before the product settles in for the full cycle. It’s not a problem visit, it’s a precision visit.
At Selfie Aesthetic, complimentary touch-ups are built into our process. Full stop. Not to mention, it allows your next treatment to be tailored in a way where you may not even need a touch-up, so you get to save or instead spend that savings on other treatments or skincare. What a novel approach!
5. What do their real patients say consistently?
Reviews matter, but not just the number. Look at the pattern. Are they recent? Are they consistent? Do they describe specific treatments and actual outcomes, or are they vague five-star stamps from anonymous names?
When a practice has 185 five-star reviews on Google with detailed, recurring mentions of the same things like - natural-looking results, attentive providers, clean environment, no pressure - that’s a signal. That’s a pattern of experience, not a lucky review. It means what they’re doing is repeatable.
80% of patients today read reviews before booking a med spa appointment, and they weight recency almost as heavily as the rating itself. If the last review is six months old, that tells you something too.
6. Do they treat you as a patient or a transaction?
This one is harder to quantify, but you’ll feel it. Does the provider take notes on your last appointment and build on it? Do they know your history when you walk in? Do they remember what worked and what needed adjustment?
The best aesthetic providers think of your treatment like a chef thinks of a recipe; something to be refined with every visit, not started from scratch each time. They document what they did. They study how your face responded. They bring that knowledge to every subsequent appointment so that each result is better than the last.
If you feel like a stranger every time you walk in, you probably are. Find somewhere that builds a relationship with your face.
What Does This Look Like in Practice?
We’re going to be transparent: we wrote this list because it describes exactly how we operate at Selfie Aesthetic, and we believe these are the standards every patient deserves, not just ours.
Our team of licensed providers photograph, video, analyze, map, inject, follow-up, and document thoroughly for every single patient. We carry multiple FDA approved neuromodulator brands (currently 5) so we can match the right product to the right person. We offer complimentary touch-ups with no exceptions. And we treat every appointment as one more step toward perfecting your individual formula.
185 Google reviews at five stars isn’t something we engineered. It’s what happens when the process is right.
If you’re searching for the best med spa in Miami, we’d love to earn the chance to prove it in person.
